If you tear your miniscus in your knee how long are you out?

i think ive torn it playing soccer. can i continue to play?
what are the symptoms?
Answer:
IN ANY CASE when theres a tear in a muscle or Ligament it will take more time for healing, just dont get used to staying off it, keeping adding pressure after you start to heal thats real important.
Stay determined to heal and for yourself to feel better, then get back out there and smoke check them kids in some soccer, but you might want to look into a brace, for a little while.
Ouch both my meniscus on my right knee was torn. You are out for a while. I had to have arthroscope to take them out.Edit-- You may have swelling, locking of the knee if any peices are floating around in there, knee giving, and pain when used. After the surgery it is much better.
Depends on how much the damage is. Small tears usually heal in about 6 weeks. Bigger tears will cause locking of your knee later on. Better get an MRI done to determine the real problem and take it from there. If you can't get an MRI done, at least see a good sports medicine doctor or orthopedic surgeon. They can advise you on what to do.
You are going to have to take a break and go see a doctor if you have one or more of these symptoms. Heat surrounding the joint, swelling around your knee, it is sore to the touch on the inside of your knee, bruising develops, it is sore to walk on. Go see a doctor if any of these are your symptoms. If it is ripped the severity of the rip determines the healing time. It can take anywhere from six weeks to three months. Good luck hope this helps.
